I have a 65 Coronet 500 HT. When I bought it the trunk finish panel (between the taillights) was in the trunk, not on it. When I went to put it on the car, it only had six (6) tapered pegs along the bottom of the panel and six small holes along the top. I went to the parts book and looked up the panel. The parts book indicates the trim panel comes with six fasteners, six nuts and six rubber washers. The trunk has twelve mounting holes, six up and six down. I've tried a couple different sized body nuts, but they won't hold the weight of the panel just being along the bottom. Also, I can't get one out to see if anyone has the fasteners available for sale. If anyone has gone thru this drill with their Coronet, I'd appreciate any info or "fixes" you've come up with to put this panel back on the car. Parts Voice doesn't show any fasteners available anywhere. As someone noted in another post, a repro or NOS panel is $2600.00! Thanks for any help, guys.:thinker:

Hello Moparist,I'm trying to get one for my car The only place that may have those nut is Special TS unlimited Inc,there trunk finish panels are now $2,900.00 now.Is ther any one else that reproduces them a little cheaper Dave L

I went to Parts Voice with the part numbers for the fastener, nut , rubber washer, and the panel. I found one panel ($2600), some nuts and rubber washers, and none of the tapered pins that glue or screw into the panel. I contacted Restoration Parts in Windber, PA. He wanted a photo to see if he had any. I tried to remove one but it wasn't coming peacefully and I didn't want to break it. So that's still pending. I have no spare lip moldings and could use a replacement right front as mine is badly wounded.

Thanks for the Mr G connection. They've added a lot of stuff. The 65 Chrysler parts book lists the following for the Coronet 500 finish panel:
Panel, finish 2526 337
Seal 6022 007
Nut 152259
Screw 9418 419
Some of the nuts are available (PartsVoice) but no screws. The screws are plugged into blind holes on the back of the panel. I can't tell whether they screw into the hole or are glued or press fit. They have no head like most screws. The bottom six holes on my panel have the screws but the top six holes are empty. The other end of the screw is smooth and tapers down to a rounded point. It accepts the sheet-metal body nut 152259 and the flat, round rubber seal 6022 007. A few of these are available but would be easy to duplicate. The problem is the screw. The parts manual says the panel comes with six screws, seals and nuts, but there are twelve mounting holes on the rear of the panel. Where's Indiana Jones when you need him??
