with mini tube completed i bought 15x10 steel wheels with 5 inch back space, planning on

shortening the rear end, going for that Pro~Street look, has anyone been down this road

before that can shed a little light on tire size or anything else for that matter LOL... i am

really liking Hoosier Quick Time Pro 29.5 x 14.5 x 15 but i don't want the car to look like a

stink bug,(too high @ the back) some input and or pics would be Awesome !

The first pic would be to high for me and the second would be just right ! !

I test fitted a buddy's set of 31x14.5-15 M/T ET Streets on 10" rims on my 65. They fit but were snug. I ended up going with 315-60-15 (30-13.5R15) M/T drag radials.
The car is mini tubbed and the dana cut to fit.

I know mine's a 69, but here's a picture of mine. I bought it already done. I'm running 15x10.5 rims and 295-65R15 ET street radials, which are about 30x12.5 with 10.9" wide tread. (The pictures show the old M/t sportsmans that are the same size). Running stock length housing with 7" backspacing, a 4 link with QA1 coilovers.

One thing to consider is this - make sure your suspension travel is sufficient so you can get the off - i currently have to let the air out of mine to get em on or off.

Another thing is this - a lot of guys with more knowledge than me warned me to keep the tread width about the same as the wheel width. I guess those 14.5" hoosiers have like 12.5" tread so maybe someone here can chime in to confirm they'll work with those rims.

Thats okay if its a 69... its still one badass ride ! wondering on the M/T Sportsmans where they "bias ply" and did you not like the ride is that why you switched to ET street radial or ?, also i read that the street slick will only last 1000 to 1500 miles, what your experience on mileage on those tires ?

Thanks! It's rough but it sure is fun to drive. Ever since i was a little kid i wanted a pro street mopar. Now that i have a family, this car is a perfect compromise as it is mini-tubbed with the 4 link but retains a full back seat. A necessary feature, as its primary use is taking the kids for hot dogs and ice cream lol.

The sportsmans that came on the car stopped holding air, its the only reason i got rid of em. Tire shop said they were 12 years old so i'm glad i didnt find out their age the hard way. But they were bias ply and were tons of fun! Bad news is they hooked like crap but good news is really easy to break free to burn some serious rubber and made one hell of a racket when i broke em loose.

The only reason i went with the ET street radials was i happened to get a great deal on some lightly used ones right when the sportsmans and was curious what real drag tires would be like. Good news is they hook so well its only a matter of time till i break something (wife wonders why that isnt bad news lol). Bad news is they're so sticky once i break em loose they warm up so quick they're picking up stones and peppering my wheelhouses for half a mile.

Oh, and they hook so well they added a full 500-600 rpm of flash to my converter.

As far as wear, i cant say as I have only put a few hundred miles on em since putting em on. I have heard they're good for 2000 to 3000 or more miles depending on your need to destroy them in big smokey burnouts but since i only put 1000 or so on per year, that's ok for me.

Plenty of pic's,what cha want to see??

Another consideration since you're in your planning stage. You probably have room for only 2 of the following 3 things:

Tubs / mini tubs
Oem gas tank
Full 3" exhaust out the back

You might get away with custom oval pipes ($$ I didn't have) or maybe a smaller diameter pipe but I chose to dump them at 45* angles in front of the diff.

While I have not yet started to hang the exhaust on the 65, my buddy has minitubs, oem gas tank and 3" exhaust to the back of his 64 Savoy. It is snug but was massaged to fit. The lip on the gas tank sides needs to be bent up out of the way and the exhaust hangers have custom spacers to get everything to line up without rattles.

Huh, that's cool, that gives me hope in the future.

Btw, beautiful 65 and 71 you have there.

i read the same thing on Accurate exhaust web site, about the 3" pipes out back with mini tube that they dont fit, but like you said with $ anything is possible, i thought of going from round to square pipe back to round for the exhaust turn outs, but if just bending the gas tank lip over like 65hemi said works, i just mite try that first LOL ! !, great subject by the way ! :eusa_clap:

I believe you need mufflers with the offset outlet not the straight through (mine came from TTI). Then clock the offset outlet to get tailpipe clearance by the frame rail. The rear tailpipe hangers will need to be massaged as well. It can be done. Here are a couple of pics of my buddy's 64 Savoy with minitubs and 3" exhaust to the back bumper.

You may have seen the Savoy at Mopars in the Park where it was the first Mopar Top Eliminator pick in 2013 and then at Woodward Dream Cruise.

would love to see more pics of this bad boy ! ! " side view would be cool " not 100% sure on tire size and sometime not even rim size, i know i want FAT in back and skinny in front and thats about all.

call me funny...you're funny...but how many on here have upgraded to a later axle..bit wider...have used late model factory alloy's with the positive offsets to allow use of the wider axle, tucking the wheels back and under as the offsets outside edge is almost flush...this will handle a better looking rear tire profile...eliminating the taper axles etc etc? I have not done an early b-body this way yet but have converted a number of earlier Plymouths in this manner with excellent results..

I went with with a stock width rear end and put 17's on my car. The backspacing was 6.7-7 with a inch or two to the inside and outside. So its a 17x10.5 with a 325/45/17 drag radial on the back. I will try to post up some pics for your. Of course the car is mini tubbed with a spring relo as well
