I have a NOS matched key set for my car. I have changed the door cylinders but I can take the ignition switch out but I don't know how to separate the ignition switch from the ignition key. Can anyone help? Thanks I want to remove my old ignition key set from the ignition switch(where the wires plug in) and put my new ignition key set and the ignition back together. Then 1 key will start my engine and lock or unlock my front doors

Not sure what you mean--I've done the same and the key comes right out.

Key won't come out, unless it's in the off position. Might be the key was turned to run, to keep it in place.

Here are some pictures I took, can't find anything in the 65 shop manual.

You will have to have the key to get the cylinder out.
1.You will turn the key to the run position.
2.In picture #2 you will see a detent and you will press in the detent while pulling out on the key cylinder.
3. It should pull right out and exchange your key and cylinder, align detent with switch push in,detent will lock, your done.
4.The lock has to be in the run position to install also.

Hope this will help
Jeff
