I just bought a '65 Satellite and it's got a tilt column in it. I have never seen one in any of these cars and the fender tag doesn't list this as an option. In fact, I don't even see it listed as an option for 1965 Plymouth Satellites/Belvederes period. My car has one and it's correct and legit. Can someone shed some light on this for me?

It's also got a volume control knob under the dash that my other Satellite didn't have....?

Aftermarket column from Flaming River??????

I have seen them in dodge 880s (1964) so I know they built them back then. I have thought about finding one for my 64 sport fury.

I was just recently told that these cars did not come equipped with tilt columns and that if my car has one, someone took one out of a C-body car and installed it. I guess it's a straight forward bolt-in.
Anyone have the magic answer?

Straight foward? You can't see any modifications? I know where a C body is in a junkyard. If it fits that well, I may check it out.

In '65 the code "S62 was a tilt steering option number. Did you check your seats for a "build sheet" ?

I will take a closer look this weekend. From what I've seen, you can't tell if it's not factory.

I looked at the build sheet briefly the other night but didn't see anything that indicated that it had one. I will look closer this weekend.

Here are a few shots....

Looks like I got a little close on a few of those pics...:)

Anyway, you guys be the judge. Like I said earlier, nothing on the fender tag indicates that it came with a tilt column but on the build sheet it reads:

STRG COL ASSY.
D Y

Anyone know what that means? Also what about the knob under the dash to the right of the column? It says "speaker" on it and it rotates like a volume knob. My other Satellite didn't have one....

Steering Column Assembly

DY?

Speaker knob might be for rear speaker volume?

If your steering is not original it was installed a long time ago. Looks right to me!
