If he intends to use the original factory floor shifter he will need the brackets for an automatic. The shifter mounts to the brackets where the 4 speed does not.

I have some brackets. At least one and the shifter mount.

I'm not quite sure of the top piece illustrated. I know the others came from a 70 Charger I had.
