Hey everyone. My 16 year old spun a piston connecting rod bearing. During tear down, I I'D all the parts where they came from. I noticed on the pistons they have a letter F, which I am thinking means forward? Also there is a number next to it also. As seen in picture. These numbers don't correlate to what clyinder I took them out of. And I also have some pistons with the same numbers. Do these numbers correlate to what clyinder that these pistons are suppose to go in? I have no idea if this engine has been tore into before either. Planning on just putting them in where they came out. Thanks for any info.

Pretty hard to blow up a 273 that is full of oil. Hope he gets that BS out of his system.

The rods are numbered. The numbers go out to the oil pan rail, the squirt hole in the rod goes toward the crank. The pistons might have a notch on the top edge, that goes forward. The F on the side does not mean forward.

Should have different part numbers on 4 pistons.
