What's the best option for a reasonably priced stereo upgrade for a 66-67 B-Body? I don't mind cutting the dash because I don't have an original Mopar radio and a previous owner cut a huge hole in the dash above the radio for who knows what. I see my coices as modern DIN style, a RetroSound model or a Secret Audio. I don't want to put someting under the dash because it would interfere with the console mounted tach. I don't want to spend the cash required for a modified original radio at $600 since my dash is already butchered (I put in a plate with three aftermarket gauges to cover it up). Cheapeast would be a modern DIN style but would require the most cutting of the dash, second cheapest would be a RetroSound with minor dash surgery, third would be Secret Audio. Any and all opinions welcome.

Thanks!

I had the same problem a few years ago with my 66 belvedere. I didn't have the original radio and I wanted FM. I didn't want to cut the dash up. I bought a old style shaft type am fm with cassette. It fit perfect and I didn't have to cut the dash and it was cheap. I installed good speakers in the dash and in the rear and it sounds great. Here's one kind of like I purchased.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortnately, the ebay listing has ended so I can't see a picture. Would you be willing to tell me the pioneer model number or pm a picture of your install to me? I also saw a link of how to install a stereo in the glove box. I'm leaning towards either of these solutions.

Thanks.

I will get you a picture of the install and what model I used. I think most of the shaft radios with cassette are about the same size. I thought about the glove box option also but since I didn't have a radio the route I went worked best for me.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. I tried adapting a 3.5mm MP3 player output to the RCA inputs on an amp but that didn't work out. Probably a mismatch on the impedances.
