My 66 Satellite came with a 318 poly and I am putting in a big block.
Will the torsion bars be the same or do I need big block ones?
Also wondered if they go bad or can you adjust them to get more life out of them?
This site is great I'm new and you guys are a lot of help.
Thanks
Jeff

the poly wasnt a very light motor.some like a lighter bar for better weight transfer on takeoff

post pics of progress, welcome to site

Thanks I have posted 2 albums the 2nd being the most current condition of the car.
Its not a hemi car but it has the power lock posi and it is from Utah so the rust is minimal.
The original color is Silver with metallic red int.I just have to decide which engine to put in.440,413,383 i have all but I'm thinking 383.
81000 miles.

I think it's a worthy restoration. Thanks
I can't wait until it looks like most of your guys cars.
I just wish someplace would start making good quarters.
AMD is looking for a good pair to make there molds.

I have a 67 belvedere and chose to go with the 383 and it's nice and a little easier to work on than the 440. The 383 can really put the power out with a mild setup.

I agree I have had 383 cars in the past and thought it was a great engine.
The biggest problem is everybody I talk to says 440 or 400 stroker for more cubes
but I have 7 383's from stock bore to a 60 over with high dome pistons and 516 ported heads with rollers.
Do I want to race or drive to car shows.
My stock 383 has a voodoo 232 484 lift cam at 108 and I think with 516 heads that have the bigger valves would be a great combo.
18-2400 stall and should run on pump gas.
What do you guys think?

Had a 383 in my 71 RT challenger,mildly built,was a fun ride.Go with your 383 setup,low maintenance,more time cruisin.

Ya I have been leaning that way and the stock engine is already assembled (short block)
just have to decide which heads and clean up the engine compartment and drop it in.
I may keep a 440 for a spare and sell the rest.I need shelf space.

My brothers daily driver is 66 BVD II 318 4door,He wants to put the old 383 from the RT in the BVD.I told him to leave the BVD alone. He drives it every day, find a sedan or hardtop 66/67 BVD to put the 383 in.

sorry did not mean to hijack your suspension question thread.

no thats cool nice clean car.But im sure you guys know the poly 727 wont bolt up to the 383.So he would need a trans too.

Another reason I told him to leave it alone.

I might be interested in one of those 383s, depending on how cash flow is this summer.
