67 AC/Heat replacement

Looking for opinions of replacing my AC with a modern system. Not making a Concourse car. Just want to drive and have AC like the car came with.

Originally wanted to keep original AC, but it is pretty rough. Any thoughts on replacements from places like Vintage Air or Classic Auto Air? Any reviews and/or criticisms.

Trying to keep the controls as original as possible.

One of my friends owns an auto repair business and has installed 5 or 6 vintage air kits on muscle cars with no problems so far.

Good to know. Too bad he's not near Chicago. Trying to find out if i can keep the original controls. Looks like i can, but the controls work differently. Trying to see if anyone with a first gen did the change and what they thought of results.

I installed everything from the firewall out w Original Air/Vintage Air and kept everything inside original. Used flush on the evaporator then blew air at 30 psi through evaporator for 30 minutes at a time for about a week, wrapping the openings w plastic between each session. I use electric fans and at idle on Max A/C in 120° heat, I stay at 40 out the vents. At cruise in 90°, I drop down a touch below 35 out the vent. I idled in 112° for 20 straight minutes waiting on accident to clear and vent temps never went above 40. So I think their setup paired w the original inside components works very well.

Interesting idea. I think my entire system, inside and out, may be toast. Probably salvageable, but would probably cost more than an updated system. I just was trying to keep the original controls looking original.

I did the same as diesel_lv, replaced everything forward of firewall. I used classic auto air kit. Had water valve rebuilt by original air group. I rebuilt the heater box with detroit muscle tech gaskets. For me, it was worth the effort to keep the original look on the interior. System has been working a few years now, very happy with results, would recommend it.

This might be a better idea. Still have to drop the AC/heater box and see how shot it is.
