Can someone advise me on what to look for on a RO23 car? want to verify whether it is legit or a clone or what ever.
Hemi 4 speed Dana

Fender tag in place ?????
Or build sheet ?

Otherwise its a vin tag and no way to 100% guarantee its the RO body

The car has been in storage for many years. I have not seen it in about 3 years. I just found out about it maybe being available, and can go check it out in the next couple of weeks. I don't know much about verifying pedigree of vehicles, so need to know what to look for. The car does need some mechanical work, and as far as I know has never been registered for street use. Around 500 miles on the odometer, as I recall

Like mentioned. Make sure it has the fender tag and or the build sheet.
Otherwise, walk away

Fender tag SO number should match the stamped numbers in the radiator support and body panel behind the rear bumper ( 5 digit numbers on lower right of the fender tag )
Vin will start with RO23J7 for a Plymouth
WO23J7 for a Dodge

No seam sealer, or sound deadening material.

You would be surprised, They struggle to pull much more over any other 67 Hemi car
UNLESS it has verifiable race history . Then values can change quickly

I would pay $50,000+ for one even with a damaged engine
in decent shape but I bet it would take a lot more.

I would pay double that if I did not have over a Dozen turnkey
race cars sitting in our shop ,several with very interesting, well documented histories.

I really do not follow it, has the market been dropping lately? I have had three factory Hemi 1968 Dart and
i would like to find another one for my boy to drive.

At my age I do not hesitate to spend money, I have never seen a U-Haul Trailer loaded on
the back of a Hearse!

The car needs mechanical work. I think the price discussed is fair if it is real. Only 37 of the 4 speed cars from Plymouth and 37 from Dodge from what I have been told.

I was not aware of that manys sticks from what I remember racing back then.
I saw mostly Torqueflite in the Factory Cars.

I raced a 1967 4 speed Hemi GTX thoughout the later 1960s.
I have a friend (John Dourlet) that races a real RO car still in NHRA.

John, I might be wrong about the number of 4 speed cars. That's why I'm looking for info. I have been a "low dollar" low class stock eliminator, and bracket racer for many years. With Mopar's mostly "A" bodies, and I never worried about authenticity. I first saw this car about 10-12 years ago, and it hasn't moved since then. But it has become available, and I have right of 1st refusal.
EDIT: Had the wrong info on 4 speed. It was 17 of each Dodge and Plymouth with the 4 speed.
