Hello folks,
I am finally back on my 67 project after a lengthy illness. I am replacing the rear window seal and am doing a plastic repair on the corner of the inner rear panel, which connects/touches the window seal bottoms.
Ive noticed three distinct shades of white (this one has B&W interior). These rear plastic panels and lower rear glass trim panel appear to be kinda creme slightly gray tinted color, even after wiping down with some laquer thinner on a white cloth. The pleather panels are much brighter, and the arm rests are yet another. Were all of these whites matching as a set, as I have, intended by dodge, or was all of this brite white and has gradually shifted with age/heat/sunlight UV ??
I'm really not a fan of painting interior pieces, but the new SEM vinyl/plastics paints look good. I prefer to just paint the section with a matching color, but if it is all wrong now and needs to be corrected, I'll go that route. I'm thinking these plastic parts were molded either dark or light as neutral colors, and not suppose to be really white.I don't know. I want to remain as original as possible.
I rebuilt the corner with some of the POR epoxy putty in which I impregnated fiberglass cloth into a build up of the corner.
Once it is shaped and ready to be painted, I need to either find paint that matches the dingy white, of do I need to repaint all the "white" plastics a new white? I will post a picture or 2 and let you see. The colors you will see are acurate, providing your monitor is correct.
I appreciate any help or suggestions on this decision. Thanks in advance!!
Richard
