My friend with the big Mopar parts stash and severe money issue with child support called me yesterday wondering if I would loan him some money putting one of his 67 Chargers up as collateral. I told him I'd prefer not doing that but to just buy it outright. Can't afford his price on the painted 67 but the 67 that needs a complete resto is affordable based upon his negotiable asking price. It was a 383/727 column shift no A/C car with a non-running 74 400 4 barrel cop motor in it now. Drum brake front end has been completely rebuilt (but if it were mine I'd swap to discs). Needs some body work, interior, windshield, rebuilt engine - basically a complete rebuild. He's got all the parts that were previously removed - trim, interior, engine compartment parts, etc. Just wondering what you guys in the know might think about the value of this 67. The 67 in question is the one closest to the camera along with an engine shot of the same car. He's also got a 79 T Top Cordoba that I've also posed the same question.

just by looking at the 2 pictures posted...it ain't worth much...wrong engine, wiring missing, no interior pics, chrome missing on ridge edges, front grille broken...

just because he has all the parts, does not mean that they are good..

Restoring a first Gen Charger is not cheap...maybe 2-3 times the cost of a 68-70 model...

and being a 67, that's a strike against it right there...specific parts for a 67 are very rare, less than half made from the 66 model year, and all the wiring is different than 66

True and understand all that. Not concerned about the wrong engine - engine swaps are done all the time. I've seen all the parts (plus a lot of extras) that go with the car. What's it realistically worth to be buying it?

IMO, cars like the Charger are worth what you can get for them. If you come across someone who wants it, might get $1K-$2K. I gotta ask you if this is really a car you want to get deep into to restore? Or if you are just trying to help him out? He has some desireable parts that would be easier to store and get rid of later. How about the Cordoba for $500? His Chargers both would take time and money to get on the road. Hope you can work something out with him.

I'm really just trying to help him out. He's been a friend for a long time. If either of his cars were a 69 Charger (my favorite B Body), I'd be all over them like stink on you know what. If the 67 in the picture was really reasonable . . . . .Yea a lot of ifs.

I've already bought quite a bit of the A Body stuff he had. You're right - might have to take another look at some of his parts - like maybe the HP 915 heads and 67 HP manifolds.

How about the Cordoba for $500? His Chargers both would take time and money to get on the road. Hope you can work something out with him.

The best thing about the Doba is the T Tops, leather interior and motor. Other than that, it's gonna need quite bit of work I think. Parts may be a better option.

the way that 67 sits now without seeing anymore pics, realistically may be worth $800 ish....I got a pair of 66's...I know what it's gonna take to restore it...

First of all, (IMO) the best way to end a friendship is to lend one money.

I have been watching the prices of 66-67 Chargers as I will be buying one when I get another car I have for sale sold.

NICE cars with good paint, interior, rear tail light lense, original engines etc. WITH working head lights and dash lights have been selling for around $9,000. There are MANY others advertised for a year or over sale for $15-25K that are still for sale. They are the low end of the B bodies for value. As said above they are also some of the most expensive years to restore. They are also very difficult to sell as they are a love it or hate it body style and unforunately most don't like them.

As you can see from above if you back into the value the cars you pictured are worth parts value only and as said the hard to find expensive parts have to be proven as working/good condition. The price of a paint job puts you under water by itself.

I passed on a solid 66 318 a/c car recently for 3K, it did sell, but not sure what for.
Needed paint including under the hood. Fair to good interior. No major body issues.
I also passed on a 66 383 car needing lower quarter patches and front floors.
that car sold for 1K IIRC
Another 66 383 a/c car just sold down here that was in better shape, except for the extreme rear corner on one side. asking price was 5K, I know they didn't get that, but it did sell. Running driving, nice black int.

I'd say with a solid body, good grille surrounds, bucket seats, rear tail light and not missing much/anything its worth 1000-2000 with minimal rust. I know it doesn't sound like it at first glance but if all fails and you can't re-sell or don't want to restore it the parts on it will net you at least that.

I know if it were nearby here I'd be over offering him 800-1000 for it tomorrow even though I already have a 67 Coronet and a 66 Coronet here.

i have always wanted one just to use as a top end/nascar replica...now that would be coooooolll

Thanks to everyone's comments/suggestions, etc on the 67 Charger my friend has. I've decided not to pursue it any further as I'm really not into early Chargers, the car would take too much work, and I've got my 3 early A Bodies to deal with.

I did pass on you guy's comments about pricing - bet that Charger could be bought for under a grand easy (should there be any interest).

If I decide to help him out, it'll be by buying some of his parts. As mentioned, they would be easier to store, transport and maybe easier to sell. Although I've got no big blocks, I could be interested in his 67 915HP heads, 67 HP exhaust manifolds and 67 HP 440 manifold since it's basically a matched set. Got to think about it as he wants $1600 for the heads and manifolds.

Again, thanks for everyone's comments and suggestions.

I see this thread is nearly a year old, so I thought I'd update it. My friend with the stash of parts has pretty much sold most of the parts, wants to get out of cars altogether and concentrate on his 78 mil-spec 5/4 ton W150. He offered his drivetrain-less 67 Charger (seen in the first pics) to me for the grand sum of $500 including all the parts that go with it as well as a bunch of spare parts. I have a rebuilt 392 on the stand waiting for a project to come along and his engine-less Charger could be that project, especially for the price. Updates to follow!
