'67 Console Tach Question

Does anyone know if there is a way to bench test a 4 wire console tach?

I know there is with a 3 wire tach and a D battery. Will it work with the 4 wire?

no, you cannot test a 67 or newer tach with a battery...you must hook up three of the four wires to the engine to see if it works....

The console tach has a separate transistorized seending unit that must be hooked up when testing the tach.

not the 67 & later console tachs...those have all the electronics built inside
