hi i have a problem. on a recent trip my rear brakes kept hanging up after a hard stop. i have gone through and replaced all of the hardware, also new shoes and new cylinders. i am still having this problem. i have the brakes adjusted all the way down, but they still drag and if i need to slow down quick they hang up to the point of over heating and smoking. need to know where to look next or what my next step should be. thank you. $T2eC16RHJHEE9ny2q8uuBQtSJiNNB!~~60_14.jpg

Did ya put some anti seize or equivilant on the backing plate where the shoes ride? Another thought, are your return springs in good shape?

Check the 'leading shoe-trailing shoe' setup per the manual.
Hope this helps.

Everything inside the drum is new I will put some anti seize on and go from there . I have the small shoes towards the front and long shoes towards the rear .

How old is the flexible line that goes to the rear end? If it's many years old, it can collapse on the inside. High braking pressure will pass fluid to the brakes but won't let it back off all the way.

I'm not sure on the line it don't look new I could grab one and try it that makes sense because over time the brakes release

Agree on flex line. Sometimes the collapse inside and won't let fluid back through.

Also might try disconnecting the parking brake cable.

If your front brakes aren't working that will put all the load on the backs and fry em. Check the rear brake hoses like earlier posts state. does your brake warning light come on? If so, then I would suspect the proportioning valve to be faulty.

..the rubber line (hose ) is the "BAD BOY "... 100% sure.... btw if you renew this hose..... think about the front hoses also !

Greetings Juergen

P.S so you have to do the "bleed job " only once....

I was experiencing the same symptoms this post made me start thinking I didn't know what it was I had taken the drums off a few times never found anything so today I changed the rear brake hose it was the original one when I got it off I cut the hose too see the inside the hole was not collapse but it was the size of pinhole thought I found the problem it wasn't what I found out the green bearing on the driver side axle had a lot of play in it what it was doing with the cars weight on the axle it made the drum move up enough to make the bottom side of the drum ride on the brake shoes so the problem is solved. just what to put this out there so in case anybody experiences the same problem they can also check for that.
