Hello all, looking for opinions on the best way to repair rear frame rails on my 67 Coronet. I have researched online and it seems the only replacement parts are the frame rail "caps". Has anyone used these or would you recommend finding a donor set or possibly even fabricating a replacement set? Although I am not a professional it just seems that the caps may not be the best answer structurally just a more economical one... Thank you for any feedback you can provide.

The best fix of course the most work would be to find original frame rails from a donor that are solid.

agree but LOTS of people have used the caps.

depends on your goals and specifics of your situation.

Hello Kato, We should have a pair of 67 Coronet rear framerails here at our shop.... but let me check tomorrow with my brother, and ask him. I do know there are a pair (out of state car) at another location, where I keep some stuff.. but they are connected to the body still, (just the body, no suspension under it, but way off the ground). Can you post pictures here on your thread? So I can see what area(s) you need. @Dodge33

Also to broaden your search, the two doors and four doors use the same frame rails....and the 66-67 coronet, belvedere and chargers all have the same rails. In reality a 69-70 frame rail set should work but you would have to cut the gas tank strap slot in one and the gas tank J nut hole in the other as the strap hangs side to side on the 66-67's. Also the fuel tank vent tube goes through the drivers side. You could use your frame rails as templates to modify the 68-70's

We used rear caps from a company called safeTcap on a 68 satty. Nice heavy gauge had the hanger holes and through pipe in them.
Used their rear cross member also and a amd trunk pan. Would not hesitate to use them again , nice pieces.

No problem at all. I will take a look today once its light enough and see if everything is still wired up and get a pic or two.
