Team,

I think my Emergency switch is the issue with the indicators. How does one test it. 4 poles.
It's really interesting. Does anyone know the real set position for this switch. I thought I may have put it in backwards....and thus a reversed the switch....same result. 90 degrees is off, and switched up is on?

Also, where the hell is the blinker for the hazards located? There is a left and right blinker for the turn signals, next to the glove box....or is one of those dedicated to the emergency....seems so.

There are 2 flasher relays under the dash by glove box. 1 for 4 ways and 1 for turn signals.

Roger....so, maybe....my emergency relay is bad. The other one works great. I just am putting my head around why I get both tail lights flashing when I use my turn signals.

Ok, so I dropped both flashers down . One is definitely bad. The one on the emergency switch . You need both to work properly to complete the circuit. I’ll get a few replacements

I’ll add a few pics here

Solution, was pretty simple. Get new flashers. Both of mine were crapped out. Having a bad flasher for the emergency will kill the function, and leaving the switch open for the emergency caused all the lights to flash....obviously. Went to NAPPA and scored to great flashers and poof.....fixed.

So lets define this better going forward. Both tail lights flashing really only has a few causes.
1. Emergency switch active, but blinker is bad. Leaving it in the "on" position and using your indicator will give you the false impression of circuit issue. Change blinker
2. Blinker for turn indicator is weak, or bad can cause a tail light to stay "on" rather than blink. Change blinker.
3. Grounding issues for dash operation and horn function via the galvanized screws for the dash of the pigtail for the column need to be checked as well....just for the hell of it. make a jumper if you need to.
4. Falling asleep under the dash at 2 AM with the new Corgi......priceless.
