Posted this in the wrong forum I think.I have a 67 Hemi Belvidere that was originally a 6 cyl car.I bought the car turn key,I did not build it.It has factory rear suspension as far as I can tell, and is equipped with air shocks.Under heavy acceleration,I don't mean launching in a drag race, but heavy acceleration just going down the road, when the pinion snubber contacts the body the rear of the cars lifts dramatically and the car becomes somewhat unstable. Is there a way to prevent this?Is it a shock absorber issue,or a leaf spring issue?TIA for any advice.

Get rid of the air shocks to start. If you are unsatisfied with the ride height after the air shocks are out of the picture replace the springs. Don't go overboard on the springs as they say they only hold the car up. Spending some money on a good set of shocks (not KYB's or Monroe's) will make the car way more tractable, especially if it's got a manual trans.

These are my minimum requirement on a car with more than 400 hp that gets driven in a "spirited" manner:

If you really want to have some fun get a good set of double adjustable shocks and have some fun sorting them out. The difference will surprise you!

Thanks Jeremiah, believe me,parting with the air shocks will not be painful but I would like the car to have a slight rake from back to front. What is your choice on the double adjustible and how should they be adjusted?I want to be able to drive my car aggressively, why else would you buy a 600hp Hemi right? This is a nice car but more thought should have been put into the suspension.Thank you for responding.

I'd love to see some pictures of you car. 66-67 B body cars are my favorite. I have been on the hunt for a Hemi 4-speed Coronet for a while but have yet to find one that works for my needs.

On the suspension I'd be looking at either Hotchkis or Calvert for springs depending on your intended use (cruising, drag racing, cornering, etc.). What wheels and tires are you running? Most likely the front suspension will need to have some components replaced to work with any new parts in the rear. It's amazing how well a thoughtfully designed suspension can change the driving characteristic of a higher horsepower car. All of the above obviously applies to the shocks as well. Here is an example of two cars in our stable that have different intended uses and therefore different suspensions: ResizedImage_1412635735472.jpg100_6326.jpg

Obviously, the Charger is a race car, that I don't need. The Coronet appears to be a Hemi street driver, that is what we need to talk about.I have American Racing Torque Thrust 15 by10 out back.I don't want to re-invent the wheel, just some solid advice on eliminating this very annoying characteristic that is robbing me of FUN!

I forgot to mention that is a beautiful Coronet!
