What year should the block be? The one that came with the car says late 1965 and it is stamped HP. Is this correct? Thank you

The casting date should be within a few weeks prior to the build date of the car. A block cast in 65 would not originally be found in a car built in 67 or for that matter late 66.

That is correct Red63440. Well said.

I am thinking that the block or entire engine was replaced with an early 1966 440 engine and cold stamped HP. There were no HP 440's in 1966 and a 67 440 HP would show a "C" on the pad. The 440 engine in 1966 was usually found in C bodies such as Imperials.
