Hello my dash lights are no longer working and I continue to blow the 10 amp fuse when I attempt to turn the headlight knob that turns the dash lights up. That fuse powers the orange wire circuit that runs from the block to several other lamps but upon inspection all connectors and wires looks good. The circuit board and headlight switch are new and the headlights, tailights, turn signals and interior lights work as they should. The fuse blows when I try to turn up the the rheostat but no dash lights. Help!!

First thing I would do would be to check the headlight switch (even though it's new) for a short to ground (switch mounting bracket) on dash lights circuit, with an ohm meter, as you turn the dimmer.

I'll check that out tomorrow. Thanks

I could be wrong. But I would think you need at least a 20 amp fuse.

A 10 amp fuse should be fine. Sounds like a dead short somewhere

Yes I'm looking for a dead short somewhere in the dash light circuit. None of that wiring appears to be damaged but Im going start by checking continuity of the orange wire at the light switch and the dash plug and see what that tells me. Thanks for your thoughts.

It sounds like a bad switch. pull the plug on the back of the switch and jumper the lights if the fues does not blow repace the switch. If it does blow then start chicking bulbd you may a a filment broken and touching ground but it does not blow the fuse until full power is applied. Hope this helps.

exactly....isolate the switch, rheostat, from the circuit and test.

I'll get back on it this weekend and see if I can't figure something out. Thanks for the help.
