I'm having trouble identifying this purple wire in my 67 console shift rt which got fried over the weekend.

I refer to the service manual all the time. I was searching forums for info on the turn signal wiring and found very little here so heading over to moparts now. Thanks for the suggestion.

I meant to write purple, not pink. If it connects to the red wire then it goes to the signal flasher.

The purple wire plugs into the red wire at the harness. There wasn't any damage to the dash harness only melted the purple wire at the steering column. I'd like to know where the purple wire connects to on the turn signal switch.

Up until this happened I have spent years looking for the reason the dash light fuse blows when I turn up the headlight switch to get dash lights. There has to be a connection between the dash light problem and this burnt wire.

I also have a 1967 R/T. My shop manual does not show a purple (violet) wire anywhere near the turn signal wiring.

The violet wire is part of the turn signal switch wire bundle. The violet wire plugs into the red wire at the harness then runs to the flasher. Not sure where it connects at the switch though.

I think it is the main power supply for the blinkers. If it shorted out inside the column or at the switch, it would certainly cook itself.

I'm going to pull the steering wheel tomorrow and see what's going on there. Never had a problem with operation of turn signals or flashers. I'll let you know what I find. Thanks for the help.
