I've read several different articles on installation of the windshield and am a bit confused (easily done) regarding the gasket. Is the gasket installed to the body first or to the windshield first.

Been too long since I've done one! Sorry for the wrong info....

Fit the gasket to the windshield first, and use the rope method!

I'm not positive about the "rope" method for a '66-'67 car guys. I've done some looking around too because i need to re-install mine as well. And it seems as though it needs to be fitted to the car first, with bedding compound on the lower/front edge. Then the window is placed in the groove and "locked" in with the integrated zipper type locking strip. If i'm wrong please correct me, but I'm pretty sure the rope method is only going to work on '68 and later cars. The rear window gasket on '66-'67 car is of a different design than the front window, so installation will be different.

Opinions?

My gasket from Steele has what appears to be a locking strip groove.

Yep….looks to be the same style. I'll keep you posted on the progress although I'm a few weeks away from install. I've also asked Steele to send me any and all detail instructions they have when received I'll forward same to you.

Voila!

Yes it's a Valiant, but i believe a-bodies and b-bodies to share this trait in '67 at least. Does the gasket in these pictures look the same as the one you have?
