67 shock alignment

67 coronet-----looking from the side of the car,do the rear shocks hang perpendicular or angle back slightly? I have my rear end out and am making a New shock crossmember and they angle back slightly on the existing crossmember. Just want to make sure before I start cutting and welding.

Angle back to avoid binding. Location of Shock tower is critical and must be able to flex a bit.

How much flex are we talking about? I see coilovers with straight tubing between the frame rails.
