68 antenna in a 67 Fender?

I have a 68 Antenna that I ordered by mistake thinking that it would fit my 67, its an electric but original looking antenna so I was keen to fit it as handy when covering up etc. I was going to send it back to CI but now I am thinking that I can make it fit without too much butchering, what do you guys think?

I know its slightly larger and a slightly different shape but I'm sure someone else has done this already?

I live in Ireland so the postage tax etc kills me, plus I can't find an electric one to fit a 67 fender.

Does a 68 fender and 67 fender look just alike?

O I didn't know as I would suggest that a 68 fender be used.
