68 Charger exterior door relaease rod to latch too long

I bought b-body repop, exterior black button door handles for my 68 charger but now the exterior door relaease rod from the door handle to the latch is about a 1/4" too long. Same issue on driver and passenger sides. Are the latch and striker adjustable?

The linkage with the ball is adjustable
here's you a pic for reference. See the Allen head screw in the slot? Loosen it and move the ball to the linkage rod.

Also, replace the new mechanism with your old ones if you didn't throw your old handles away. The stud on the repros is offset more and causes binding which can make that rod pop off in the door.
