Trying to install Hooker 1 7/8" coated headers on 440. It seems that the engine is too high in the frame, the left one touches the steering box, and is very close to the torsion bar. Got fed up with that, so I took those off and tried to install the factory manifold ( #2463107-3). I couldn't even get the left one on because it touches the steering box and isn't even close to snugging up flush with the exhaust ports.......wtf....

Is there different engine mounts, or is it possible to assemble the mounts incorrectly?
I have about 2 1/8" from the left front lip of the oil pan down to the K frame.....is that about right

This thing is really pissing me off.......

Headers tend to get people grumpy!:laughing9: Everytime I have ever installed a set they were always a major B1TCH!!!! Try a Duster with a 440!!!! :laughing6:

I'll take a measurement tomorrow for you.
Did you have this car running before with different headers or exhaust manifolds??

No, I'm assembling this car from a pile of parts that sat in the trunk for twenty years out in a farmers field. The owner has put a pile of money into it and I don't want to have to bash the hell out of his new headers that have never been installed. The motor mounts are new. The exhaust manifolds came with the car but i'm not sure if they are original to the car.

Thanks for your help!
