Hello, Id like to pick some brains, on converting a nice 68 coronet 4 door into a 2 door, Can it be done, Will removeing the center post, weak, the structure of the body, But seriously can it be done. And if so what would need done, change quarters, doors, i would imagine, What would all be needed. Did anyone ever do this to a 68 4 door, is there any videos on this, to see how it would be done, Any thoughts, on how to do this, would be apptt, thanks

You would have way more into trying this than just to buy a nice 2 door. Your looking at everything you listed and a entire roof, dutchman area, all glass, all int trim, ft & rear seats and this is just a starting list. Also in the end you'll have a 2 door with a 4 door VIN.

Don't forget the inner structure at back roof area as well.

That would be a massive undertaking, but anything is possible. I believe there is a couple fella's on here that have accomplished that with the earlier B-Bodies. If you're looking to prove it can be done or take on a crazy project and have all the skills, time, money and resources available to do so, go for it. If you're a 4 door owner wishing you had a 2 door, stick with what rrunner said and buy a decent 2 door. You'll save yourself some lute and a boat load of time in the process.

Good luck which ever way you go.

Okay thanks, for the imput, seems like a lot more than i thought, on that note anyone got a decent, 2 door body for sale

I've got a 69 Coronet four door that I'll never actually do it (unless I come up with countless hours of free time!) but thought it might turn out great if done right to chop the top a couple inches, angle the windshield a bit and retrofit a 2 door curved back glass and dutchman panel into the 4 door roof while still maintaining the rigidity of the sedan. Would still be one heck of a project and miles beyond my current skills could take it but would look killer and have the functionality of a 4 door still.

To me, the only flaw about the look of the four doors is the roof height and angle of the A & C pillars that take away the aggressive lines of these old rides.
You could even graft on the quarter panel 'scoop' indentations if you were really motivated.

Great thing about the 4 doors is that they aren't worth a ton so if you screw it up too bad you could still have an excellent parts car for when you find the 2 door!
