68 Coronet Console Lid ?????? What is Correct

Hello I am restoring a 68 Coronet Console lid, looking a pictures on-line, I can not confirm if there is to be black paint between the chrome ribs on the lid itself. I see what looks like both applications, not sure what is correct for the 68. ? Thanks

Just to be clear, I am talking about the centre of the console that have the chrome ribs ?? Question refers the the grooves between each rib, are they painted black or left as is? Thanks
