i just picked up a 68 coronet gonna restor it eather clone it to a super bee or a rt it has a 383 swapped in it since it was an a 318 car should any improvments be done to the front looks like it could use ball joints
since the car is gonna be a street strip car i feel i should do improvments to the front also it has the 8 3/4 rear i was thinking about swapping in a ford 9 rear or a dana 60 i do have a few dana 60 posi rears 4.10 ratio's but they r out of trucks i was thinking about disk breaks and getting the axels drilled for 5 bold wheels rather than 8 bolt or is that a dumbe idea i am new to this i was a 4x4 truck puller i have thick skin so let me know if i am way off lol also if there is good vendors thatg help this site i would rather buy parts from them so feel free to sugest a few
thanxs for the help

Your OEM 318 cars ball joints would be the same if it would have been a 383 car. Same with your tie rods/idler arm, pittman arm and strut rods. Torsion bars would have been different. Brakes might have been different depending on the vehicles options. Tie rods/adjusters can be upgraded to the 11/16" C-body stuff. There is a ton of options out there for upgrades to your suspension Full rack/pinion, tubular, adjustable strut rods, fast ratio pittman/ider arms and gear boxes, front/rear sway bars, ect...ect... Lot of great threads on here to give you an idea.

Your 8 3/4 will work fine unless you're gonna build some 700hp+ monster or something along those lines. Dana 60 is a step up, but isn't a must unless you're going for some more serious torque/HP. I'm sure the rear is probably a one wheel peel, so maybe look to upgrading to a sure grip, trutrac or something similar. The 5 lug bolt pattern with 1/2 studs will work just fine. Besides, trying to find 8 lug decent wheels for your Coronet would leave you with very little options. Disc breaks would obviously be a plus

Some reputable vendors:

Firm Feel, Hotchkis, PST, Reilly Motor sports...ect..ect..

i wont be haveing no 700 hp not even close
i am shooting for 400hp good to hear the 8 3/4 will work for me
this is only gonna see the track a few timkes a yr just for fun but i am gonna relocate the bat and add a fuel cell but i am not gonna chop the car up i will keep an eye open on here for for parts i dont mind useing use as long as it in good shape gonna save as much money as i can but dont wanna cut coroners
thanxs
