It’s odds for a GTX to not have a console due to the price class and buyers. I have seen a few 4spd X’s without a console.

Many years ago I almost bought a 9 GTX 4 spd WO a console. B-5 w/ black interior.

For what I have been around, the console was likely seen with the 69 GTX four speeds with bucket seats. For 1968, it seems that most of the bucket seat GTX's with the four speed was not equipped with the console. I have seen at least one 68 GTX that was a column shift automatic with bucket seats. Tried to buy the car for years as it was a one owner and basically the only option was a AM radio.
