68 Hurst Road Runner shifter pic, Thought I'd put this out there because it was in such good shape and had easily readable numbers for anybody trying to verify what they had.

What does the Hurst script look like on the handle?

it also looks like at some point somebody drilled out the bayonet receiver to accept a bolt on shifter handle. Notice no shift stop bolt adjustment

Not the early single script stamping. Script is separated hollow lettering, not sure if that made 68 but 69 non console for sure

This is the numbering off a 69 shifter bayonet style.

Thanks for posting that. I had incorrect shifter rods included in my purchase package for this car. Everything was in pieces. The pic you have makes the rods look straight, but they do have bends correct? The rods I had were Competition Plus rods and they did not fit the trans ear's diameter.

Does anybody know what's up with the last plate that comes apart in the internals? it has a notched raised tab. Not sure if you can spot that in my pic but I was afraid to replace it with a wavy from the rebuild kit so I reused it. The bottom row on the paper towels are the replacement parts for the above pieces.

I'm back to my first question, do you think it's really original to the car. Wrong handle for year vintage and you say wrong shifter rods as well. I'm thinking just the wrong shifter assembly all together. What was the SPD for the car?

Wrecked and sat in a storage cell for 45 years

Well here are some pictures of a shifter I recently sold. I removed them from one of my 69 Road Runners in 77ish and put them in storage in 79 when I moved.

My research has indicated that the single script was rushed by hurst as they were asked to jump in 68 mid year. Those appeared in both A and B body Hurst equipped vehicles. They then made the hollow lettering with a better stamping later

I can only say that this was early 69 late 68. I do know it came out of my deceased friend's 69 that he bought new when he came home from Nam.

One other thing you can look at is the shifter arms. Do they have numbers? Brewers has a lot of smarts to identify what you have.
