Rebuilding my 18 spline 4speed looking into putting in Jim passion 4 speed overdrive gear set . The car is 1968 GTX 440 hemi 4 speed Dana 60 410 gears. Any body do this looking for little info.

I have that gearbox. It is a standard A833 case with the different gearset installed.
Now that I have had a chance to run this box a while, I will say that it is a cruisein' gearbox and NOT a raceing one.

The jump between 2nd & 3rd is too wide, even with a stronger engine than mine. A friend had one of these behind a 650hp hemi and it was not suited for racing.

As I only use mine for cruisin', it works for me. I have a 3.23 rearend and on the highway, I can get about 17mpg, which is great, because we do a bunch of longer drives.

Passon is now shipping their A855 5-speed transmission. It's pricey, but it is a direct bolt in, with no special bellhousing, no new driveshaft, and especially, no cutting of the floorpan.
The gearset is a standard 4 speed set with a .70 or so 5th gear. He states that he has used & abused one in his 600hp race car and not had any issues, so, who knows...

Maybe next year, Santa will be good to me & my GTX and send one of Jamie's 5 speeds at Christmas time!!!

Nothing to add to the post except I am also a tile man with a 68 GTX. Cool huh?

After rereading the OP I see where he means 4 spd with 4th being overdrive and not 4spd with overdrive.

The jump between 2nd & 3rd is too wide.

Same as Chrysler built OD trans.
