What is the difference on the tailights with the silver outline vs none? Year or model?
Thanks

Base models have no chrome trim. 69 R/T's have the chrome trim. 70's do not due to the rear trim panel. 69' also do not have a reflector in the lower center where 70's do have the reflector.

This is the area of the bezels

All 69 Chargers had the chrome bezels and silver stripe on the lenses. 70 Chargers had different lenses with reflectors and no stripes painted on them. Base model 70 Chargers XH vin, had the chrome bezels like the 69 Chargers, see Dave's picture above. All other 70 Chargers XP/XS vin had the reflector lenses with no chrome bezels, because they had the aluminum finish panel surrounding the taillights. My mom's 70 Charger R/T SE shown in the photo with the rear finish panel trim.

My 70 also came with chrome door handle buttons.

I have an unrestored 1969 RR and a recognized expert said my door lock buttons were not correct>>> Ya never know ?

Because black buttons matter.

Actually, all three of my 68 Chargers have black buttons, as does my friend's 69.
My '70 Charger original driver door has a chrome button. Owner #1 merged into a car and the replacement passenger door is from a '68; and has a black button.

@davek was talking about your '70 and said the buttons should be black. I was curious if the chrome buttons were phased in at some date.

The SPD for my car was May 23, 1970

My tag has a rot spot on the month, but it’s May 16.

Yowzer, the last six digits in my VIN are approximately 53,000 higher than yours. That's a bunch of cars in a one week period. I don't know if they produced other models besides Coronets and Chargers in St. Louis.

Sorry for hijacking this thread. :realcrazy:

I'll post some '70 taillight bezel pictures tomorrow to make amends. :)

I removed the chrome bezels from mine. They’re actually in excellent shape and would clean up nicely with a light polish. I’m going to hang onto them in the event I ever acquire a ‘69.
