69 A12 bee for sale- opinions

Hey guys,

I have been looking for a 69 super bee 440 six pack to buy. I have had my eye on one that was for sale but they wanted too much. They recently have dropped it down to 65K. Its not the original engine but a period correct engine. below is the link and was curious on you thoughts were on the price.

I guess price is dependent on your budget and I am not an A12 expert. However, I have been to the St Louis showroom and my cousin actually bought a 47 Ford from them. My advise would be to not buy site unseen. When I was there, I saw a lot of cars that had suspect issues but I suspect the prices did not reflect these. I did not inquire about the prices of each car as the car I had actually gone to look at, was sold the day before. For example, things like the inner door jamb, back in the space between the fenders and the body, was a different color than the rest of the car, trunk mats covering putty repairs. I realize that they are a consignment showroom, so they are not the restorers, but even an untrained eye could spot a lot of these issues. My cousin's 47 had several drivability issues including front end issues and overheating as well as what I considered to be a lot of putty in the body.

Thanks so much for the responses. I have heard good and bad things about Gateway classic cars. I did confirm the car is #263 on the six pack/six barrel registry. It says its a non matching motor and transmission to the car but does appear to be an original body and sheet metal. I haven't verified if the engine and transmission are period correct which would be a big difference to me. I have put a call in to find out if the fender tag is legible and also to get a copy build sheet.

I really like triple carbs and always wanted a SuperBee 440 six pack manual. This car has been there for almost a year now I think and started in the 80K range and was 72K last month and now dropped it to 65K which leads me to believe its certainly over priced. I definitely would not buy it without flying down to the Houston showroom to inspect it and validate all the #s. I don't mind spending some money on a car I like but at the same time certainly do not want to overpay. Will you let you guys know what I find out from the dealer in regards to the fender tag and build sheet. If the engine is not a period correct 440 from 69 then the price to me should be drastically reduced. Below is the link to the car on the 6 pack registry.

Looks like a great car - too many unanswered questions. Not sure I'd pay that much w/o matching numbers. I also don't think they're far off with or w/o. I have a six pack and love the whole deal.

Hoods to shiny, missing the idle solenoid, wrong rad cap. Details like these on a high dollar car are red flags. Arm yourself with everything known about A12's, (they are well documented), and go look. May be a good deal.

This car WM21M9A2468025 has been for sale for a long time(2008 maybee). Heard it was pretty nice but most people are turned off by the fact that there is no fender tag or build sheet. Heard that a interested buyer called and asked if front and rear stampings matched and they would not confirm or deny. A must see in person for sure.
