Did the factory use a plastic barrier between the interior door panel and the door. If so how did they put it on and where can you buy them? Trying to get my 69 Charger R/T 440 OEM. Pictures would help.
I thought they did on all cars. My 67 Charger had it and so did my 73.
They just put a bead of adhesive on the door and stuck it on.
I used scotch double stick tape when I redid mine. But masking tape will work fine too.
Yes they did, I used the rolls of plastic painters use to lay on the floor to paint a house. I bought it at Lowes. Then you buy tacky adhesive strips from the paint store that come in 6 inch lengths or so, 20 to a box, that I used to bond the plastic to the door. it was meant as a moisture barrier.
It's just 3mil plastic. You can pick it up in bulk at any hardware store. It was held in place with 'dum-dum', 'rope sealant' (both slang terms). The name on the box I have is 3M Strip Caulk P/N 051135-08578 (Black). Bought it at NAPA, but I'm sure any parts house that sells body work stuff will carry it...or their version of it.
