As you all know, it's all in the details. I'm in need of factory correct detailed pics of a 1969 Coronet engine bay, particularly the hood latch area, firewall mounting hardware (flange nuts, bolts, etc.) and battery tray.

I bought my car done, but it's an older resto that's not completely accurate. I need to see where body color goes and where it shouldn't go. The battery tray is black and I believe it should be body color. The spring, hood latch, lever and rod were painted, but I blasted it back to natural. But what about the mounting bolts associated with it? Too many cars I see at shows have this issue, so it's hard to find one completely correct.

Care to lend advice?

In fact it was featured in October 08 Mopar Collectors Guide .

The hood latch should be plated in a black-brown looking color. Bought mine NOS I guess it was black phosphate.
The pop up spring should be black phosphate, also the lever.
The safety lever is black phosphate too, but hood catch and two bolts were painted with the hood.
Battery tray body color.

Thanks so much for the great photos and the tips about parts too. Those will help me determine what to paint and what to strip to get it correct. You have a very great looking Coronet, Ron. Definitely a magazine worthy car. I really admire all the details and effort you put into your car....it's a beauty!

My car is the September car in the 2013 factory Mopar Muscle Car Heritage Edition Calendar that the Chrysler/Dodge dealers have. Not the best shot, but that's the one they chose.

Thanks again,
Ted

The throttle return spring in those pictures was wrong.
In that application it should be grayish/silver, I replaced it after those pictures were taken.
Also I replaced the regulator with red lettering with an NOS one with yellow lettering.
The red letters were used in 68 and before.

I just bought a regulator with red lettering with a July 1968 date code. My car's build date is Sep 19, 1968. It's an early one, so I need all date coded parts to be early to mid '68. I hope I'm doing that correctly.

With a car that early I'm sure you'll be OK with that regulator. Look at other parts in the engine bay like the hood safety and see what date was on that
BTW 9/19/68 was my 9th birthday!!!

Is the hood spring next to the catch/lever mechansim cast silver or black like the latches?

The pop up spring is Black Phosphate, you can buy them at any good Mopar Vender now adays.
