I have center reflector from 69 R/T tail panel would like to know best way to clean and polish, seems to be quite sun faded. was told to be careful with the type of plastic polish to use. Any one had any luck polishing these to look good again?

Thanks dcmason69

Good luck. I have tried everything. It has improved, but not matched up to the red in the taillights. Still filmy. I have used a power buffer, haze remover and everything in between. Cautious to not get too aggressive.

O/k I feel the same way not to get too aggressive. has anyone tried a clear coat product I wonder.
Thanks for the help Dennis

My best efforts. Also, I used to remove and polish the tail light lenses every year but stopped when breaking off a tab. Tail lights and Center panel approach unobtanium status.

Beautiful rear panel, can I ask did you have the panel restored and if so by whom?
Also while on subject of rear items the tail lamps. I have seen some with a raised B/U lens and others that are smooth, can you offer any info on the 2 styles?

Thank You again Dennis

Pictures are deceiving, the panel could be better. Just a local shop. I have only seen the raised white back up lense - somewhat raised anyway. Have not seen anything differing from what my R/T has.

Would like the name or phone # of your shop that restored your panel if you do not mind, need to have mine done, not looking for show quality, trying to build a driver, thanks for all the info. Not many places capable of straightening and plating aluminum.

Have a tail panel question...are the factory tail light bezels painted to appear as real chrome or are they true chrome ? There aren't any '69 Coronet R/T's in my area to reference. Seen a few photos but, it's difficult to distinguish. Thanks

Looks like polished aluminum to me. The flat or satin black is sprayed on. Panel is very light and easily damaged in shipping. Try Andy's 440 site for reference, that's where I go.

Are they an actual bezel you can remove? Or are they an integrated part of the panel ? The "bezels" on my r/t are painted....done by previous owner. They look okay but, I'm not sure if there's supposed to be an actual bezel on it from the factory or not.

Integrated. One piece panel. The panel, three reds and fasteners.

Mother's wheel polish in the tiny red & white can works pretty good on faded plastic lenses, believe it or not.
I've used it quite a bit and they shine right up with a little elbow grease, and it doesn't scratch the plastic either.
Try it, you'll like it!

There's a guy down in Tyler, TX that restores these tail panels. He does the 68 GTX to perfection which is one of the most difficult to do. I'm sure he could do your coronet equally as well. Call him - his name is Bob and his number is 903-287-0775. He's a good old boy that does super quality work and was recommended to me by other FBBO members. He has a website too which I don't have on hand. But trust me he's worth the contact call.

Awesome, I live in the Dallas so Tyler isn't far at all. Thanks again for all the good intel. I'll post some pics when she's done.

Scotch bright it. Then wipe it with painters solvent. Then shoot a clear coat on it. Works every time.
