I am going to look at a 69 Coronet R/T Vert for a guy and am wondering how do I tell it's a real R/T? What numbers should I look for on the fender tag? Is the 5th digit the engine in 69 too?

Thanks,

Topher

Thanks for the quick replies! Is there an online decoder for the fender tag?

I'm somewhat familiar with this year, make and model. I also track all the 69 R/T convertibles I come across and have found around 57 of them. I'd be interested to know which car you are talking about.

As stated above, you'll want to look for WS27*9G in the VIN. The "*" will most likely be an "L" indicating the standard 440. If the VIN shows WP27, it's a 500 model cloned to look like an R/T.

Hey Doug,

You can count the 58th one now........

A customer of ours was here just yesterday with his WS27L9G A4 silver 69 Coroner R/T convertible, had a white interior, white top, console auto. It's a work in progress, he has the number matching 440 rebuilt and all the body and paint work is done. Now he's finishing up the interior and trim and getting the top replaced. He's a pretty happy camper to have it in running and driving condition!!!

If it wasn't a 69 RR it would be a 69 coronet R/T vert. I love that ragtop combo.

That is a sweet car.

Got any in North GA or Eastern TN?
