New to the forum with a question regarding brakes. I have a '69 Charger R/T with power front disc/rear drum brakes (not sure if it started that way but that's what it has now). The power booster needs to be replaced and I'm going to do the master cylinder at the same time to play it safe.. The current unit is a replacement, not the correct Bendix booster. I've checked online and found two of the Bendix-style units for sale, each appearing to be identical to the other with one difference. One has the brake lines on the passenger side of the master cylinder (correct for my application) and the other has them exiting on the driver's side (correct for hemi equipped cars, which mine is not). The other difference is price with the correct piece being substantially more expensive. While I like originality as much as the next guy, I don't foresee entering the car in a concourse restoration show and just want to get driving. My question is does anyone have any experience installing a master cylinder with the hydraulic lines coming out of the "wrong" side with everything else being equal? I see no difference other than appearance but figured I'd ask. The "correct" unit is from Moparts and the other from Pirate Jack. With the exception of the master cylinder they appear identical. Thanks for your time.

So long as they are both disc brake masters I don't see a problem with which side they lines exit the master. They probably exit on the drivers side on the elephant powered cars to clear valve covers...
Welcome to the forum and mopar...

It is my understanding that the brake lines on a 440 should face the engine and a 426 should face the fender. At least that is what I was informed on my 68 GTX.

Ordered a Pirate Jack replacement booster and master cylinder kit today. Keeping my fingers crossed. I'll post the results.
