Just how many different orange body colors came on 69 roadrunners? What are they and as far as color goes which was the darkest and which was the lightest. Thanks cant find any decent info on my own.

EV2 Hemi Orange & EK2 Go Mango. Or 999 special order which could have been anything you wanted.

Mainly want to know which orange is the darkest.

At introduction of the 1969 Plymouths the only orange avaliable on the Belvedere was special order code 999.... Omaha Orange. In Feb of 69 paint code EK2, Vitamine "C" Orange was made avaliable as a replacement for Omaha Orange, which was discontinued.

Code EV2 is Hemi Orange and is a Dodge only color. They are different shades and I believe EV2 is a bit darker.

R4 Performance Red on a Plymouth also had a distinct orange hue in certain light.

Will.

I believe your correct... Hemi Orange, (EV2) is a shade darker then Vitamin "C" Orange, (EK2).

Performance red, (R4) should appear as the color code on the tag if it was the original color. (R4) was also named Barracuda Orange on the A-bodys.

Code EV2 is not a Dodge only color. Was a 20 dollar option on my 72 Ply Sat sebing plus...double check later.

I'm a little confused. Are you looking for the correct color for your car or are you looking for the darkest orange? Are you planning on making a tag to match the color that you choose? Do you have the tag to your car? R4 is red, but it looks orange in certian light. V2 is orange, but it looks red in cetrian light. What does your tag say? I have heard of V2 on 69 RR's, but I don't recall ever seeing one in person......

The most common answer will probably be the two known colors: Omaha orange which was replaced by Vitamin C orange. There is always the possibility other one off shades of orange were applied to a car or two.

V2 (which wasn't called EV2 until 1970) was a Dodge only color for 1969. K2 was not available on 69 dodges. It was a Plymouth only color. Both were released about Feb/March.

The tag says R4, just trying to figure out what color the car was originaly, its extremely faded right now. I did pick up a small amout of R4 to try and out of all the oranges it seems to match the best. I like the hemi orange also but would a off color from original devalue the car when done?

first one is 69 Plymouth, second is 69 Dodge...:tongue8:

As you can see, there are many shades of orange and red that unless side by side can be mistaken for one another. That along with lighting and what I will state below can make it all very confusing.

The 999 paint code shown is Omaha Orange (used by many utility companies back in the day) which IS DIFFERENT from Vitamin C or Go Man Go (same color) used in 1970 by Dodge.

As you can see from the paint chip comparisons above R4 is definately Red not orange.

Be very careful getting paint samples from the paint stores today even using the original paint codes. Paint ingredients and changes with the newer base coat/clear coat products often don't even closely match the original colors. The only way to match them is to match them to an original Dealer Color Book chip or and original PAINTED paint chips from the old PPG books from back in the day. You will find those in paint supply stores that have been around since back in the day that still have the originals. Have them color match it to THAT chip and not use the color formulas they have, as stated above they have changed.

How do I know? The guy that had my 78 Little Red Express Truck painted had the paint shop mix the new paint per the factory color numbers and the paint came out more like Hemi Orange than the correct Canyons Red.
