Hey guys, I just mounted my console brackets I used measurements from this site, I have it fitting nice. One thing that I do notice being odd is that the console is more towards the drivers side, but I do think it is correct, so the shifter lines up. Can somebody please look at the pic below and tell me if it looks correct. You can see that the console is not perfectly centred with the main floor tunnel.

thanks

I changed out the floor pan on my 69 Charger and has to reweld the hump and brackets in. I bolted the seats in the car and made sure the console was centered between the seats - there really isn't to much wiggle room.

Going by the bolt holes for the seat brackets looks in the right spot have you checked to see if it's level. Hunt2elk is correct by saying theres not much wiggle room

Only a suggestion but i would get it placed as close as you can and would wait to make it final after you can place the seats in and you can see if it may need tweaked a little to make it as right as possible, It does have to placed right for the shifter but with the seats in, you may have enough wiggle room to move it one way or the other so it sits right, i don't know how much you have to work with but ill be doing the same in a year or so, and this is what i think so to have it working without problems and maybe a better look inside.

Thanks guys for the help.

Hunt I looked at your console thread from last year and yours is off centre as well. They look odd off centre but i am pretty sure it has to be for the shifter to work. When you finalized your location I'm assuming it's still off centre?

Here's a photo of a '69 Dodge Charger console - should be the same. You can see that the shift lever is almost vertically inline with the centre of the ashtray - should be able to measure from there. And it clearly shows there is a lot of hump on the passenger side not covered by the console.

Good advice here. That said, my console rattles, collects junk, and has misaligned lid. If I had the choice I would sell it for way too much money and do without. It vibrates like hell when the headers are uncapped too.

Yes, me too. I'm thinking about one of these:

Just went out and checked mine out. The console is pretty much exactly centered in the car if you measure from the middle of it front and rear to the door opening flanges. The tunnel of the floorpan is not centered in the car and this is the discrepancy you are noticing. Regardless, you need to set your seats in place to get it as perfect as you can. I also went so far as to bolt my engine and tranny in the car during this step so I could get the shifter coming through the hole exactly where I wanted it.

Thanks for the help hunt. I didn't realize that the tunnel is not centred, so I think that is what is throwing me off. I will take your advise and check seats. I want to have it right before I paint the floor underneath.

thanks again
