Im looking to add a RR vert to my collection. I found one nearby and its coded for a grabber on the hood. Was this a common option on the Convertible? Seems rare to me. The car Im looking at it TX9 with white top and white guts. 383 on the tree. Thanks,

About 26.6% of the convertibles built for sale in the US came with N96. So around or about 502 cars came with it. Not 'rare' at all.

This data does not apply of the car was built for sale in Canada or for Export.

If it matters to you, the pinstriping on the sides is incorrect, and wheel-opening moldings were NA on Road Runners of that era (though could have been added by a dealer or owner or restorer). Black is fairly rare, white interior not common, and the N96 should be a bonus but should be called out on the original fender tag. Lots of fakery & added equipment these days, so I'd want to see an original Broadcast Sheet and get enough history to be comfortable. V21 hood stripes may be as-original, maybe part of Spring Special. Post a photo of the fender tag if you can.

RR Convertible with 3 on the tree AND N96 ? That has to be a 1 of 1 …. If real was possibly an ordering error.

Right hand mirror also....not that common.

No head rests so the car was built prior to 1/1/69 (or omitted in a restoration) so it's unlikely a Spring Special.
Wrong wheels. 69's will have a '69 only' trim ring with the five spoke wheel.

As there was no three speed transmission with a 383 in 69, I think the OP is misstating that it has a column automatic.

Make certain that the VIN, fender tag, radiator support numbers, and truck gutter numbers all match and are a true RM27 car. I could see a po turning a Satellite into a RR....

Thanks guys, the V21 and N96 is on the tag. I'm going to get a better picture of the tag and post it so everyone can take a look very shortly. Just waiting for the owner.

I will cut the suspense right away. The car sold 2 days ago. And I think it was a reproduction tag so I would not have been interested anyways. On to the next one

There's enough wrong in that photo to bring the whole car in to question I think. Great looking car no doubt just not a reference restoration is all.

I don’t know about the other folks on here , but myself, I think the entire production number on RR convertibles in 69 ( not even considering options ) is a pretty rare car.

It’s all relative.

Production of 69 RR convertibles is one of the highest for 65-70 B body convertibles.

There were more RR convertibles made in one model year, 1969, than there were R/T convertibles in four.

Less produced than '70 Superbirds!

I question the statement about wheel opening trim.

Like Doug mentioned, it's a relative metric.. In the GM world they consider less than 10,000 rare... In the Mopar world there are plenty of less than 500 examples... Honestly there are plenty of less than 100 examples...

Back in the 90's I picked up a car that had already been parted out, I stripped it further... Later I found out it was one of three...
