Anybody have any pictures or links showing: 1) how you connected the release cable to the hood latch?, and 2) how you disabled/defeated the factory outside release? I did not find anything when searching this forum or the internet for "kits". It would not be a big deal to just make one............looking for ideas.

I checked my Car and Equipment price book and saw no mention of an inside hood release as an option. My car doesn't have one and I've never seen one on a 69 either. But with Ma Mopar you can never say never with these kind of things. If you want on bad enough you may just have to fab one up yourself.

I don't think it was a factory option. I'm just looking for a way to keep thieves from raising the hood and taking things (yes, even in broad daylight, at a big box store parking lot, or an eating establishment). As the economy gets worse, thieves get braver. I may just decide to install a chain that runs from inside front of the hood to below the bumper and put a padlock on it. thanks for the reply.

Thanks Fellas! I'm going to do the long choke cable thing, drill some holes in the mechanism, and isolate or cut off the finger tabs. I have an extra mechanism that I'll keep in case it needs to be restored to "factory".

I was thinking you could use parts from newer mopar... or a choke cable if you found one long enough... but I'm thinking of a small padlock and drilling some holes in the releasing arm through the support so I need a key to pop it...
I have seen where some one used a pick axe and ran a chain through but I doubt that's the answer you want.
But along those lines you could rig some sort of system up where the lock was wrapped in foam tape and didn't rattle.... mines a 67 so I have a slightly different set up...

Also a string of razor blades glued on with liquid nails just peeking out from under the lip would keep only the truly determined out.... but if you forgot

I knew somebody that actually did this because his battery kept getting stolen. Came out one morning, hood was cracked open and blood all over the place.

The next week his car burned to the ground.

You know, that's pretty whack....and opens the door for a law suit or like was mentioned, retaliation. Set up a camera instead and then go from there or secure your vehicle with other ways.
