I took in a 70 Challenger today, that came from the factory with a slant 6! Yes, amazing! It's a B5 or B7 (Jamaica Blue)? car, the owner already replaced the floors, and trunk, qtrs are good, he put frame connectors on it, it's a very solid little car in need of a complete Media Blast -- which I will take care of! I will post pics of the car over the next couple of days.

Wow a /6 poor thing deserved better :( still has the motor?

Looking forward to it Donny! Nothing wrong with a slant six....Those little bulletproof engines made a living pushing Lead Sled Coronet and Belvedere wagon's around along with a ton of other cars back in the day

I'm not knocking that engine! I think it would WAY COOL for him to restore it with the six in it! But, along with the new metal, he put torque boxes in/on it too, he say's it's going to be a 440/6pack.

I was replying to 69' clone's post on that Donny. Good to hear you finally got one coming in that's not all rotted to pieces or covered up in mud

I didn't mean it as a bad thing, I understand the wagons and family cars but not a challenger or anyother muscle car.

Not going to bust your chops on it anymore 69'. Kind of catching your drift on it...More of a revered or popular musclecar (Challenger) should have had a more revered or popular musclecar engine (340,383,426,440). Was that your opinion you were trying to get across?

Just don't think the old slant six gets enough credit....The fella's and I tried many of times to bombshell the old six's with no avail back in high school. Hell, -30F and blowing I could count on my buddies rusted through 74' Dart Custom to be making its way up my driveway to come jump start my old lincoln winter beater. That little 225 just humming like a bee

They were just discussing those on FEBO. A rare engine for an E body for sure. Now that gas is so expensive it might be more desirable to the right person.

agree

i agree with you prop. they were a work horse. a lot of farmers had them in p/u's. if i remember right, don't let the dog pee on the tires. some had starting issues when
it was wet out. use to spray the cap with something to dispell the moisture. can't remember what it was though.

Thanks yea, thats what I was trying to say some kind of v8. I was too tired to think straight lastnight lol

Yep. They did not make many of them and of the ones they did many have been V8 swaped. Makes you wonder if some day a factory original Slant E will bring more than a BB clone.

A few years ago my friend restored 70 Challenger Deputy 225/904 to better than new condition. Original lime green with black vinyl top. Added dual headers with dual exhaust and 15" rallye wheels. What a nice cruiser with good mileage :)

Back in 84, I bought a 70 Challenger with a /6 and 3 speed. Straight as an arrow but rusted to hell so I sold it. As for the /6 being bullet proof....have any of y'all ever took a good look at those skinny rods they have? Yeah, I tried to blow up a couple of them too with no success but I put a tach on the second one and the top rpm was only 4800! With valves the size of your thumb nail, it's a wonder they go that high lol

Skinny rods? I know one Valiant which was boostd to 600+hp without any problems :)

There was a thread or two over on FABO about rods going out the side of the block. Don't think that happens a lot though. They are strong reliable motors for sure. A bit over built for what they were made to do but thats what keeps them alive so well.

Boosted to 600+ using stock /6 rods? I'd have to see that wit me own 3rd eye! :D The first time I saw a pan off of one, my first thought was how in the world do those stay in there. I know of some pretty hot /6's but none of them are running stock rods....

There's a /6 Dodge 1984 cargo van that is here for sale under 2 grand, I am SO wanting to buy it; use it for my delivery vehicle when it's raining!

Nothing at all wrong with a slant six! How much do we pay for petro? My brother-in-law has a 71 Cuda with one in it, beautiful car or will be when he gets body work done and repainted. The shop he paid 5000 plus to do it lasted almost a year and a 1/2. It was Bahama blue real nice, and when everyone else sits waxing there car he can still afford to ride with the toons.... GOOD LUCK with it Donny.. Ron
