Ill preface this by saying I know very little about the interiors for the 70s. I notice the car has a black dash…was this likely swapped from a 68-69? It’s a factory 4 speed console car…were the orange consoles molded in the color or were they painted/dyed? I’m assuming I’ll need to track down an original console…however I guess they make some reproductions…any input? Is legendary interiors the go to brand for the seat covers and everything? It looks like everything is there, but are there any parts that are super hard to find?

did the car originally have a console or are you wanting to add one? C16 fender tag option

C16 option on the build sheet. The shifter looks to be original to the car (trans is) and is the console version.

A33 has nothing to do with the console. Separate option. There are plenty of bench seat cars with A33.

The shifter is the same for console and non. It is only the shifter handle that is different.

A shifter is the metal box that the rods and handle attach to.
The chrome stick rising out of the floor is a handle not a shifter.

If you have C16 on the sheet that’s a console. Otherwise, Have a look at the brackets on the floor, or what was cut off the floor to tell you what was in there.

Well I suppose it’s the console handle then. Build sheet indicates it’s a C16 code car, so I would assume it should have had a fk5 color console. I was just curious about the best way to find a replacement. I’m assuming buying an orange auto and converting it to 4 speed? I know the orange isn’t super common.

It’s interesting that dash could be the original? For some reason I thought it must have been replaced. I’m just trying to figure out what hard to find interior parts I’ll need to look for once I get the car.

What on this earth makes you think that is a 969 dash?

The dash IS original 1970 parts from what I see in the photos. Burnt orange wasn’t a color ion 1969

All the plastic in the red area is 70 only, a 69 has a flasher switch on the dash where a 70 is on the column. Steering column and wheel 70 only, also door panels, upper door pads, seat belts, etc etc.
You are missing the 6 way seat track hiding under the seat cover and shag carpet.

how long do you want to wait to find a burnt orange console?

I meant the gauge cluster, not the dash as a whole. I misspoke. It’s not an SE, I just expected wood grain on the gauge cluster with it being a 70. This made me think it might have been swapped out at some point, but like I said I do not know all the nuances of the various interiors.

69-70 B body 4 speed consoles are difficult to find in any color. You can by the new shell from Tony's parts and maybe some other vendors. Black only....you will need to dye/paint for the 70 only burnt orange. All of the top plates and chrome trim are available in repo as well. Otherwise, start the search for an original set up and see if it pops up. Plan on spending $1-2K for your efforts......maybe more.

A33 - only available with 440 or 426....you must have an R/T if 440 or 426. However, the black dash panels are woodgrain on all R/T's

Did all 70 RTs have wood grain dash’s? Clearly it’s a 70 dash, but it has the black plastic like 68-69s. I have seen other 70s without the wood grain as well

68 rally dash was ribbed, 69 and 70 was grained.
RT and SE was woodgrain.

Dash is a 70, 69 had the hazard switch on the cluster. 1970 the switch moved to the column.

I hear you can convert an auto console to manual?

You can, but you can buy a 4 speed console. You would need a console shift handle. Also the console brackets are different from auto and manual. Consoles and trim were originally molded in color.
