Got a favor to ask you 70 roadrunner/GTX/satellite guys:

Can someone measure the opening in the fender for the headlight bezel/grille?? I attached a picture of mine. The driver's side measureas about 8 1/2" just in front of the inner edge of the outer headlamp. On the passenger set, the measurement is more like 8 3/4" (as you can see in the pic.) I noticed this while trying to install a new grille and headlight bezel set from year-one.

I think the fender on the driver's side fender was replaced with a satellite fender by the previous owner. They should be the same, though, right? Were the fenders always matched at the factory? Maybe one is aftermarket, or wrecked/repaired? Any ideas on how to make this look right?

It looks to me like the headlights and bezel need to move up, but I topped them out as high as they will go, even ground the washer flat on one side to top them out more, and it still leaves about a half inch between the bezel and the flat upper edge of the opening (keep in mind, I don't have the chrome trim installed).

Yep, I would check for old damage. You might be able to fudge it with all of the trim and get it real close. These cars were far from perfect from the factory.
