Have a 70 RR. One of the rod for the door latch is loose and rattles around. Have included a photo. Is their supposed to be some sort of clip on it to keep it from rattling around? The rod for the lock has white plastic clip on it and it is tight and quiet....

The one making all the racket (no locking clip)

The other one with the clip on it

That certainly could be the source of the noise. Did you look at the other door for comparison?
I had a similar rattle in the door of my 69, turned out to be a missing bushing where the frame for the wing/vent window is supported at the bottom of the door.

.......cant remember if my 70 RR had clips on it or not....BUT....i just re-did all the door linkage on the Javelin, and it made a racket and heres how i fixed the noises coming from the doors....:

took some red wheel bearing grease.. (its really thick )..and gobbed some on the moving parts and on the joints . it really quieted them down tremendously....and the grease will keep them lubed up for a loooooooooooooooooooong time!

Rattle Rattle

Hi : On the long lock rod ,there should be a braided like sock over it ,at least a foot long. This rod also lays in a "J" clip that is screwed to the door frame & there is also a clip on the latch end that keeps the end of the rod from vibirating in the hole of the latch. If you`re not sure about these parts & you would like, i`ll see about sending a few pics. My 2 cents

Please do send or post photos

thanks

NO !! Rattle Rattle

Here`s a few pics. The "J" bracket is screwed to the door with a philips machine screw & the rod lays in it`s sock, in this bracket, This particular rod has a VERY worn braided cloth-like sock & the last item an anti rattle clip on the lock rod mechanism end. Hope these pics help.
