Can someone tell me how to remove the ralleye gauges? I removed all the screws on the cover panel but when going to pull out the gauges it is real hard like the screws are still in. I don't want apply any more force in fear I might break the panel. Are special tools need for removal? Would there be a seal behind the gauges that is just old and has stuck to the brackets?
Also what would be a good source for the rocker light switch and the thumb roller instructment light and dome light switch?
Thanks for any help.

1- make sure you remove the speedo cable from the back after the screws or it generally wont budge.

2-This is not necessary but helpful. There are 2 screws holding the column up. loosen them about an inch.

3- This is not necessary but helpful. Remove the steering wheel.

4- place a heavy towel over the column. When you finally do pull it out the metal frame behind the plastic front panel can scratch the hell out of the column paint.

5- after removing the cable, the panel should loosen enough to start pulling it out; however, only pull it out a couple of inches on one side.

6- remove all connectors on one side. (i.e. dash light bulbs, headlight harness, wiper switch harness, etc...)

7- push the side you pulled out back in then pull the other side out about the same distance and continue to remove connectors.

8- after you are sure you have everything disconnected remove cluster.

^^ What Brian said...

Also I found it helpful to start pulling the left side of the cluster out first as the right side has a slight "tab" on it. Same goes for installation I had to tuck the right tab in first, then rock the left side in...but the harnesses and speedo cable are what's holding it in place for the most part.

Switches....I had to collect mine over Ebay and other used sources as they are tough to get a hold of and pricey if they are rebuilt and in working order.

year one sells a repo dash/dimmer/dome switch...not sure about rocker switches

And disconnect the battery first, if there's one connected.

panels

I´m taking my -70 rr interior apart,
the radio bezel plate, and the panel above the clove box are attached
with some kind of glue.. are they supposed to be glued?

Linus..
There should be no glue holding the trim to the dash. For example the radio bezel....remove the 4 screws, the volume and tuning knobs and it should come off. Behind that are two screws that hold the radio flush with the dash, also one in the rear supporting the back of the radio..

Again, no glue in my experience...

Here´s a pic of the radio beezel attached with, as it seems, glue.

I'm not sure what to tell you Linus, my GTX trim is different in that respect. Maybe start a new thread to see what the response is....we don't want to hijack texasbird's thread.

That bezel doesn't look like the right size to me from the pic. Like someone cut the width edges down so the screw holes are gone and probably needed glue to attach what was left.

No glue to hold parts together from the factory.....

FYI there was an article in Hemming's Muscle Cars mag that showed pictures of how to do this step-by-step, too. You may also want to label some of the connectors, particularly the wiper and washer switches.

Wrong bezel as said, and the OEM one should have a chrome strip at the top of it to match the left and right sides.

To whom?

I´ll probably remove the "glued-on" radio bezel and most of the other instrument,
panels and the cluster, to see how its all supposed to be put together!
