On the early 70 Coronet grilles they had a reddish thin surround. (same color as the Cuda reddish bar in the grille?, or the air grabber screens on a 69RR?) My question is has anyone come up with the correct color or color code to refinish?

I saw a n.o.s. grille at carlilse this year and don't remember seeing any red. I have two sets (that have been repainted) and don't remember any red on them either. I could be wrong, just my two cents.

Here is a pretty good picture of what I meant. Also if you happen to have an Original dealer showroom sales literature you will also see this treatment. It follows the outline around the blackout area.

All I know is the very early cars were the ones with them, The parts book only lists for the Coronets (no black out). R/T - Super Bee (Satin Black Out) part numbers. So it had to be a running production change, and as to why they dropped it I am clueless.

Thanx for the info and picture, looks good. I've never seen that before.

I have never seen that before. If that color is the same as on the 70 superbee tailpanel it is called tailpanel red. You can get it from Totally auto. IF it is not the color they may know what color it is supposed to be.
