I have a orginal duel snorkle air cleaner for a 383 70 super bee its in great condtion with vent hole of course,, the paint is chipped and weraing; its an eye sore, so question being is it better to repaint the orginal or buy a nice repro. I do not want a chrome aftermaket cleaner but i very nice new appearing orginal looking assembly.. anyone know who carries the nice ones? and if its better to repaint given the finish on the cleaner where could I send it to have it professionally done?

In my opinion it is always BEST to stay with the ORIGINAL part to begin with and restore it back to OEM, you may find the repo's while some are very nice are NOT always as accurate as the original part.

In the 70 Dual snorkle air cleaner for a 70 Bee I do not think anyone makes them, and should not be a huge problem to restore properly. The DS are pretty hard to find compared to the Air Grabber air cleaners.

Also please let me know if you want to part with that eyesore.

I'd have to agree, staying with the original part is the way to go. If you're wanting to refinish it try Eastwood's wrinkle paint(or something like that). It's very forgiving over any irregularities on the surface. Simple light sanding, clean with brake cleaner, paint it, then the secret to getting it to wrinkle right is let it sit in a closed garage in the summer time. It was about 85 degrees outside and probably over 100 in the garage. At least that's what I did. 2 hours later it looked awesome!
I could put that old beast to use to if you're looking to unload it!
