I have a 1970 Superbee. I bought it from the second owner back in '89 (for $900). It sat in a barn for 8 years, which wasn't kind to the trunk and rear frame rails. And, it was nose-dived into a lake which kinked one of the front frame rails and the four-speed hump, and cracked the transmission case. The transmission was replaced with a '69 4-speed. The original 383 engine is in the car, or so I think anyway. Its marking is off from the VIN by one number. The VIN is WM21NOG185959, and the engine stamping is 175959. I'm wondering if this is an intentional way of designating certain unique cars by Dodge back then, or if it was just stamped wrong. The car is well-optioned (plum-crazy, white c-stripe, white vinyl top, white interior, bench seat with pistol grip, ramcharger hood, road wheels, etc.) , and I think worth restoring. The original owner told me that it had been a dealer-driven / promotional car. It had a late February '70 production. Does anyone know why an engine sequence would be off like this ? Did Chrysler have a method for designating / marking promotional vehicles ? Bee1.jpg

Sounds like a factory typo.

On the second line from the bottom of the fender tag on the right hand side...there is a six character sequence. Does the sequence start with a number or a letter. If there's a number, the car was probably nothing 'special'. If there is a letter, let us know what it was.
